Lion's Gate 88: The Portal, The Pledge, The Tee
Every year around August 8th, something opens. The sun lines up with Sirius, the numerology hits different, and a certain kind of person starts talking about "activation energy" like it's a scheduled event on their calendar. (It is. We checked.)
We're that kind of person. So when Lion's Gate rolled around, we didn't write a caption about it. We rushed it.
Some People Rush a Fraternity
Growing up, "rush week" meant Greek letters, matching jackets, and a lot of standing around a quad hoping to get picked. We never really understood the appeal — until we realized we'd been doing our own version of it for years. Except our letters aren't Greek. Our motto isn't in a yearbook. And the thing we're pledging allegiance to isn't a house — it's a portal that opens once a year and asks nothing of us except to show up.
Portal est vita. Portal is life. We didn't major in Latin, but we know a good motto when we feel it.
The number on our shirt isn't a jersey number. It's 88 — the date code for the exact moment the gate swings open. Some schools celebrate and retire numbers for legends. We just wear ours every August.
The Design
Collegiate style, cosmic subject matter. Varsity lettering, numbers representing the vibe - the whole look of a shirt that should be hanging in a trophy case — except the trophy is a once-a-year alignment and the team is everyone who's ever felt the shift before they checked their phone.
Why 8/8 Actually Matters
For anyone newer to the portal talk: Lion's Gate is the point in the year when the sun aligns with Sirius, the brightest star in the sky and a big deal across a lot of ancient traditions. Energetically, it's considered a moment of heightened alignment — a "download season," if you're the type to call it that. (We are.)
